The Wellington Airport Community Award is a partnership with Wellington Community Trust, and the five local councils recognising the work carried out by community groups in the wider Wellington region. The focus of the Awards is to reward the valuable contribution made by volunteers. Finalists are selected through a nomination process where organisations are judged on such key factors as: Volunteer input, utilisation of resources, innovation and creativity, effectiveness of activities, impact within the community with a focus on activities during the past year.
On July 20, Committee member Bonnie Mosen will represent WRDA at the awards ceremony held at the Pataka Museum of Arts and Culture for the presentation of the Community Award Certificates, cheques and the Supreme Award Trophy. The winner of the supreme trophy is invited to the regional awards hosted by the Wellington Airport. "We were a winner for Porirua City in 2013," says Mosen. "So hands and hooves crossed."
