Amber was previously used in a riding school and has attended pony club and local competitions.

Amber has been in the Greater Wellington region for many years and is well known in the local equestrian community Amber is used in our therapy and education programmes. She is kind, responsive and brave.

Amber has a sweet personality and is very gentle for humans to handle in every way.

Prior to joining RDA, Booms was used for pig hunting. Booms in incredibly reliable, versatile and works in all three of our core programmes.

Booms is the ideal mount for our independent riders and has also been trained to go off voice command for our para riders.

Booms is the matriarch of Wellington RDA and is the “gold standard” of what is required as a therapy horse.

Hamish is our longest serving therapy horse. 

He excels in our Unmounted Programme and EAGALA. Hamish is reliable and dependable in his unmounted roles.

Hamish a real gentleman with a calm graceful elegance and delightful personality. He is well liked by everyone.

Marley was previously used as a farm horse.

She is used in all three of our core programmes.  She is confident and brave with our arena resources. Marley has a smooth stride at both walk and trot which is great for instilling confidence.

Marley has a magnetic personality that everyone is drawn to with a gorgeous nature.

Before joining our team Indi was a very good pony club pony and had a particularly fantastic jumping background.

Moana was previously used for farm hacking and came to us at a youngster. 

She is used in all three core programmes. She is brave in the arena and enjoys the variety of work. Moana has very adjustable paces and can speed up or slow down as required.

Moana is beautiful both personality and looks with a kind and sweet nature.

Moby has a background of Pony Club and previously working at Auckland Central RDA.

He is a real delight, excellent in all three core programmes, plus our Unmounted Programme and Eagala. He is safe, reliable and versatile. Moby has slow and steady paces.

Mody is calm and gentle to work with and also has a cheeky personality particularly at lunchtime as food is his favourite thing!

Penny was previously used in riding school and has been to pony club and competitions.

She is used in our therapy and education programmes. She is responsive and brave. Penny is forward moving with great ground cover.

Penny has an outgoing personality and although slight, she is spunky in the paddock and well respected by her peers.

Prior to joining WRDA, Richie was used for pony club, trail riding, kids lessons, dressage/showing and jumping.

Richie is a true schoolmaster, incredibly well-trained, reliable and versatile.

He works in two of our core programmes, Education and Sport and Recreation.

Richie is the ideal mount for our independent riders learning to ride trot and canter. He is the right type for all our independent riders who want to develop their horsemanship and dressage skills.

Richie is a big boned Clydie crossbred. He is brave with a lovable character who is happy to do anything asked of him

Scout came to us from a farm home as a youngster but was wise beyond his years.

He is used in all three of our core programmes. He is willing, calm and has a lovely nature. Scout has lots of lateral movement in his gait and a bouncy trot.

Scout is a big lovable lad who is curious and playful with a larger-than-life character. You will often catch him playing in the paddock, he is the clown of the group.

Tonka was previously a trekking pony.

Tonka excels in our Unmounted Programme and EAGALA.

He is adorable, like a teddy bear, in looks and personality. He is always looking for fun and has a big likeable personality.  He loves people as much as he loved food.

Prior to joining WRDA, Twiggs was working as a therapy pony at the Whanganui RDA. She is very well suited to the RDA way, with her solid bone and cool temperament.

Twiggs is proven in the RDA arena, comfortable with all the various arena activities and games and with all three rider positions, backwards, sideways and astride.

Twiggs's experience being a successful RDA pony makes her a great little versatile pony to work with riders across our core programmes

Twiggs has a very sweet nature; she is willing and quick to respond to her riders.

Zara came to us from a farm background. She is used in our Therapy and Education programmes and suits our smaller riders. Zara is responsive, forward moving with great ground cover. Zara is sweet natured, easy going and curious.
