I was born in Te Awamutu and have four children and eleven grandchildren. After secondary school and university in Auckland, I taught at Westlake High School then entered the Public Service where I worked in the SSC, Electricity Corporation of NZ, Ministry of Women's Affairs and Education Review Office. As an elected member of the Wellington Regional Council and the CCDHB from 2001-2016, I maintained an active interest in disability services, development of the health passport, accessible public transport and disability training for all DHB and other public agency staff. I live in Paekakariki and am currently producing four oral histories, including one entitled "Women in a disabling world".
